Hi Guys,
This week I want to Firstly ensure you can all print out from browser with file paths displayed on the page. Basically, in Explorer you need to go file>page setup and choose URL in one of the drop down boxes (usually the footer). You will need to print your finished pages out for next week's CLAIT test.
We then talked briefly about page design. Here are a few main points to remember.
- Think carefully about the purpose of your site.
- Is it a shop window, an information site, a journal?
- Keep this in mind whenever you are working on any part of your site.
- Avoid huge blocks of bright colour. Your site will be clearer and more readable if you limit the palate to pale shades only using bright colours to accent imortant parts of the page.
- Keep a consistant appearance throughout your pages.
- Keep the appearance simple and un-cluttered
- Keep the navigation of your site easy to understand
- Keep blocks of text as concise as possible and use clear headings to divide text. People won't wade through reams of poorly laid out text
- Use pictures to generate interest in text.
Homework :-(
This week's homework is another sample CLAIT test. Again I have given you a disc with the files and a template on and a question sheet. If you could save the files to a stick and bring them next week or email them to me at millington@tiscali.co.uk that would be really useful.
Here are links to the files you need if you loose the disk or it won't work. You will need to copy and paste the source of the html file and copy the text of the text file and paste them into new text documents named as below. The 3image files can be copied and pasted or dragged into a new folder or your desktop, Get all the files correctly named into a single folder before you start.

The Questions are here. You will need to scroll down to page
Good luck with the test and I look forward to seeing you all next week for the actual CLAIT test!
